The hotel is approx 20 minutes walk from the major sites – Hermitage, St Isaacs Cathedral etc – but an interesting walk past the Majinsky Theatre ( 7/8 minutes walk) and the Yusupov Palace. Nice breakfast and good standard of cleanliness and comfort in the rooms. However what really makes this hotel exceptional is the people who work there – front desk, concierge, catering etc. They could not have been more helpful.Prefer this hotel over many of the 5* chain hotels in St Petersburg – more than happy to book again should we return.

Alexander House is not an ordinary hotel. It is a beautiful house from which it breathes history, tradition and hospitality. Beautiful interior furnishings, large and comfortable rooms and a pleasant atrium make the house unusual. As if coming out of a fairy tale. There is a team of young people working in this historic house. They are very friendly, willing, perfectly professional. They are ready to fulfill every wish, it is obvious that their work is very interesting to them. I felt like a rare visit to my best friends. Thank you very much. I always love to go back to this fairy tale.
Alexander House was a little piece of paradise in the extraordinarily beautiful city of St Petersburg. The rooms were so big and comfortable. The staff were really terrific especially the concierge.
Absolutely loved this charming little hotel. It had all the comforts and cleanliness of a larger hotel, while still feeling homely and personal. The uniquely decorated rooms are extremely spacious and comfortable. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Breakfast is great. The garden courtyard is lovely for sitting to read. 100% would stay here if again in St Petersburg.
Great location overlooking the canal in a quiet part of the city. Room was spacious, bright and very comfortable. Cannot rate the staff highly enough for their attentiveness and friendly manner. Breakfast was good and served with efficientcy. Would highly recommend this hotel.
Spacious, luxurious room with view over the canal and St Nicholas church. Comfy bed, lovely linen, powerful shower. Great choice of breakfast. Lovely internal garden terrace. Friendly staff – service truly excellent.
Excellent breakfast and outstanding staff. One of our party was pickpocketed in the downtown area and the hotel staff were extremely efficient in contacting the police. When we found ourselves running late for a business meeting, they offered personally to drive us to our destination (as there was not enough time to order a cab). I’ve never experienced such first rate service.
