I lived in the Durango area for several years and had to move away. This was another revisit. The main attraction is the railroad. I have taken the Cascade run and it is a wonderful experience. I believe Durango has a good mix of acitivites for young and old. There are so many great restaurants and children appear to be welcome. It is a tourist town, yet I have always found that customer service is great wherever I go. There are galleries and books stores and toy stores. There is so much history to glean with exciting stories of the settlers and the miners in the area. Then of course, the outdoor activities are year round and endless. The mountain views are topped only by the ones in Ouray and Silverton in this area.

I stayed at this hotel twice and by the third time I booked a room I was priced out. each booking significantly was more expensive for the same time frame each booking. I would have stayed there again, but got priced out.

Durango is a charming old western town with a fun vibe. Great for cycling and other outdoor sports.
We liked The Office for dinner and live music. We were surprised we couldn’t find good Mexican food.

Cost of living went through the roof during/after the pandemic. Durango is experiencing a housing crisis. Stunning location and close to beautiful country. Spirit of the town has changed dramatically over the years. Spirit of the mountains and surrounding area is naturally the same. The town feels kinda fake.

A nice town. Touristy, but nice.
A nice town. Touristy, but nice. Great Hotel, older, small rooms, but very nice. Very close to D&SNGRR depot, so very handy for us. Nice town, but, perhaps a bit pricey overall. But, we knew were on vacation, and we certainly enjoyed our stay.

Durango is a delightful city with a wonderful downtown with good restaurants. We went there to take the Durango Silverton train ride which was great. While in Silverton we toured an old Gold mine that was so interesting and informative. After our visit to Durango we went to Mesa Verde Indian Ruins, a must for everyone’s bucket list. We had a great vacation in southwest Colorado New Mexico area.
Lovely welcome on arrival.
Marvellous value for money considering the location which was ideal for the Durango Railway about a mile away and half a mile or so from Downtown.
We opted to stay for an extra night and were given an upgraded room as our room was unavailable. Wonderful.
Our rooms were comfortable and clean and tidy. If your priority is freebie shower gels then these are not supplied. A good thing too. Far too much single use plastic as it is.
There was a pool/hot tub inside in the middle of the hotel. It's nice that it's indoor, but not very private. Our room was on the ground floor and we heard a lot of noise from the hallway.
The breakfast was great, eggs, potatoes, hM, bacon, sausage and cereals and really good little pastries. Much better than a normal hotel breakfast.
Also, there was a happy hour that was nice.
The location of the hotel is great for walking into the downtown area of Durango, especially if you are going to ride on the Durango-Silverton express. The room we had was on the ground floor with a view of the Animas River. The room was great -- everything worked (iron, outlets, etc.) and the staff even had a sewing kit that I used to repair a button on my coat.
The room was quiet, clean, comfortable, and great! I loved the air conditioning that kept the room cold too. Staff friendly and helpful. Location was great too with store nearby and the free trolley that takes you right into town. Great little hotel for a great price.
The Manager Dave was fantastic he was very friendly and had a great attitude when we come back to Durango we will stay at the hotel again. I was driving from California to Colorado Springs and out of all the hotels I stayed at it his one was the best
Good breakfast choices! Fresh fruit. Even gluten-free items.
Comfortable beds, pillows, sheets.
Quiet on the river side of hotel.
Convenient for a walk along the river and downtown.
Secure, enclosed parking under the hotel.
Good location for travelling downtown for shopping and the train. Far enough off the road to be quiet. The staff were very friendly and helpful for things to see and do around Durango locally.
By far the worst hotel experience in my 42 years of travel. Awful awful awful and ended up getting refund and going to the local Comfort Inn Durango, which was above and beyond!!!!
The bedrooms are great really big, a nice view to the river. The bathroom is also big and modern. Really confortable.
It is really close to Durango downtown, we can walk easily.
For a hotel in Durango, it could use some up-grading. Also, when a previous guest has a dog that poops on the carpet, it should be cleaned more thoroughly than it was.
The location is fine, Durango's small so if you have a car anywhere is good. The mattress I had was much nicer than I expected.
The AC in the room worked well.
It is centrally located to Durango's downtown, shops, attractions- within comfortable walking distance. Room was OK, I purchased breakfast outside the hotel.
