San Antonio in Texas is home to 2 of the state’s top attractions: The Alamo and the Riverwalk. One of the city’s former Spanish missions, the Alamo was the site of a deadly battle that cost folk hero Davy Crockett his life. The other remaining missions - Concepcion, San Jose, San Juan, and Espada with its aqueduct - are dotted around the city. The attractive Spanish Governor’s Palace also remains.
The San Antonio River runs right through the city, below street level. Known as the Riverwalk, its banks have been cleverly developed to house riverfront restaurants, bars and shops, and are spectacularly lit for Christmas. There are several San Antonio hotels by the Riverwalk which are also close to the Rivercenter Mall, the city’s biggest shopping center, while La Villita artisan village has more traditional crafts.
Across the road in Hemisfair is the Tower of the Americas, a tall observation tower with a revolving restaurant overlooking the Alamodome, a huge sports and convention venue, home to the annual Alamo Bowl collegiate football game. Booking.com has several San Antonio hotels near the Alamodome, and more accommodations near San Antonio Airport.
On the outskirts of the city are Sea World and Six Flags Fiesta Texas. The city also hosts the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, one of the country’s biggest Western events.

If your looking for a long weekend trip for both kids and adults San Antonio is not lacking in things to do, from the Riverwalk, the tower, Alamo, great food, Zoo, Aquarium and so much shopping, there is something for everyone. Everyone was so nice there. We felt safe walking everywhere, even at night. Go have a fun getaway, you won't be disappointed.

We've been to San Antonio before but found plenty of new things to do. Especially loved the BCycles and the trail to the missions. Also walked north along the river walk to the Pearl (about 2 miles). San Antonio has done a wonderful job with biking and hiking trails.

The room had a view of parking. Mostly very quiet.
The room had a view of parking. Mostly very quiet. It seem to be a little older or getting time to repair a few things but it handled the need for a room that was fairly reasonable. Seem good for work crews and traveling on a tight budget.
Food options were not the easiest

I liked absolutely nothing abt this LaQuinta.
I liked absolutely nothing abt this LaQuinta. Our room was next to a drainage ditch with large pieces of trash in it. Homeless lived in a tent next to the ditch. The small rugs in front of all the rooms were torn and shabby. All areas looked unkempt. I will do my best to warn travelers away from this motel and this area.
Comprehensive breakfast, including eggs, bacon, beans, plus the usual baked goods, waffles and cereals. Right near the Alamo, less than 10 minutes from the bus station, and 5 minutes from the River Walk. The location can't be beat for the price, and the room was very comfortable. If I return to San Antonio, I'll definitely check availability at Best Western first rather than look for hotels in general. That's something I rarely do when returning to a place.
Hotel was relatively near the Riverwalk and Alamodome, we were able to walk. San Antonio has done a good job connecting this side of I-35 to downtown with well lit streets and wide sidewalks. It is quite possible to leave your car at the hotel and walk downtown.
The hotel is a good price for what you get, a simple stay, free parking, a good bed and clean bathroom.
Good hotel just on the Riverwalk. You can enjoy the view from the lunch area but not from the room – windows are too small and were on the street in our room. Room was clean and very spacy even with the sofa used by our daughter. Fully equipped kitchen with large refrigerator. Good breakfast with Riverwalk view. Friendly staff.
Where do I start, the valets were very courteous and helpful. The staff was always smiling and no question was too dumb for them and trust me, I can be that person. The free breakfast buffet is the bomb. I give this hotel and entire staff 10 stars.
Ooops I can't leave out you are within walking distance of the Riverwalk.
When we walked in we were pleasantly surprised by the interior design of the hotel. It has great balconies over seeing the Riverwalk and the Downtown San Antonio area.
The hotel was very clean, and had an authentic San Antonio culture and vibe to it.
The décor was festive , modern, and chic.
Excellent stay on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, very nice hotel, a little dated in the bathroom, but otherwise clean. The bed was comfortable and the staff was excellent. Very friendly staff, they brought the extra pillows quickly when we requested them. We would stay here again.
It is charming and quaint. An old Victorian home with lots of character right on the Riverwalk, with a view from our room of the riverwalk and downtown. Excellent and preferable option to the sleek tourist/business hotels downtown. Lovely host, and very nice other guests.
The location of the hotel is great....right on the riverwalk and close to the Majestic Theater, which is why we were in town. It is very nice that they offer breakfast included, and the options were many, albeit still just your usual hotel breakfast. Room was spacious.
Very nice hotel with free breakfast, dinner and alcoholic drinks. The location was ok on the Riverwalk, it puts you at the far end and you're not really close to anything. It's closer to get on Commerce St and walk, rather than walk down the riverwalk. Room was comfy.
great location for downtown, and so easy to get to - traffic in this part of town seemed very light for some reason. Parking over road for hotel was expensive although v convenient for 1-2 nights there are much cheaper options nearby if you are staying longer
The hotel is such a beautiful stay and in a great location! You don't need a taxi or a car if you're just going to stay on the Riverwalk - it's just a 5-minute walk away. The man who checked us in was so kind and helpful. We had a great stay.
The hotel was fantasitic, the room was cozy and the bed very comfortable.
The location was amazing, literally 2 min away from Alamo and Riverwalk!
The stuff was very friendly and really went above and beyond to satisfy our requests.
The rooms were dirty and smelled of mildew, I worked in construction for years and I can tell they have a major problem behind those walls. This hotel says it’s near the Riverwalk but it’s not even close, overall bad experience.
- Charming historic boutique hotel in central location at the Riverwalk in San Antonio.
- Quieter part of the Riverwalk yet within walking distance to most of Riverwalk and Downtown.
- Parking on site available.
very good option for staying in downtown San Antonio, walking distance to Riverwalk, easy to get everywhere else by car, free parking, big room, with all necessary amenities, excellent value for money
Location. Not on Riverwalk so cheaper but very, very close. Common areas looks like a museum (est 1859), hotel with a soul. Nice internal yard with rocking chairs for morning coffee.
Staff and restaurants were excellent. So convenient to everything since it is on the riverwalk. The RIO cruise is located right in front of hotel at riverside.
