The breakfast was great (and free!), so are the rooms. They have a family computer and some manga in the shared area that you’d love! The location is about 5 minutes away from the bridge, making the location close enough to the tourist spots but far enough to be quiet. 🙂 Oh, and the staff is really, really nice.
The whole place was kept so well. Wang and Gao, the lovely couple who run the place, are the kindest and friendliest hosts I have ever met. I’ve been to many hostels and this is by far my favourite. I was looked after so well! Wang would help me plan my excursions and drew lovely diagrams to make sure I didn’t get lost. The place is cosy and clean. I’ve recommended them to all of my friends and I wouldn’t stay anywhere else if I go back to Kyoto again! Loved it here!
If you are thinking about booking a room at this hostel then I would say BOOK IT! For a start, the hostel is newly built and looks beautiful. We didn’t realise just how lovely the area around the hostel was when we booked. Arashiyama is set on a river and the hostel is an easy 20 minute walk to the bamboo forrest. You will love to walk around the river up to the monkey park and temple. The hostel is run by a lovely couple who will make you feel so welcome and help out with any travel questions. We are a family of 5 (with three teenage children) and we felt very welcome. A great atmosphere, very clean place set in a good location. Train station is a few minutes walk away, making it easy to travel in to Kyoto central.
Very good hotel with good location and acceptable price.
