great traditional japanese housing with history! the hosts are very nice and welcoming, with rental bikes a lot of places are reachable, stations are nearby. The facility was very clean and air conditioned. we had a lovely time!
Shimo and Rika’s house was very cute, designed by themselves, which feels like home. My friends and I really enjoyed staying there. Besides, Shimo and Rika helped a lot with our trip, we got to go to the restaurants we want to go because they helped us to make reservations; Rika also found us a great kimono renting place which enabled us to try really pretty yukatas. In a word, it was an awesome stay and if I ever go to Kyoto again, I would definitely choose karigane as my first option!
We had a wonderful stay at Karigane, highly recommended! Karigane is owned by a lovely young couple who are extremely friendly and helpful hosts. The house itself was beautifully renovated, so charming, yet fully updated with modern conveniences. I would come back again.
Beautiful traditional house owned by friendly and helpful host. Their free luggage delivery service was quite convenient for us as our stay was short. Would recommend this for someone looking for a real Japanese experience.
This Machiya style accomodation is located nearby Daitokuji temple – perfect place if you are visiting one of their tea ceremonies. There are multiple onsen nearby too! There is a luggage delivery service from/to the station or to other accomodation in Kyoto which made is very easy to go around before/after the check in. The best part of Karigane was…our host, Mr and Mrs Shimooka. The charming young couple were extremely helpful and would their utmost to make the stay most comfortable and enjoyable. We loved the tea & sweets offered during the check in process. It is pity that we could only stay for 2 nights.
オーナー夫婦の建物に対する愛情が感じられてとても良かったです。普段は旅館やホテルなどを利用しているのですが、そこには無い静けさだったり空気感がとても良かったです、観光地の京都ではなくて、あーこういうとこなんだ京都を楽しみました。有名なお寺やスポットに行くのも良いのですが京都と言う町を感じるのに最高の立地でした、町までの距離感最高でした、チェックインの時紹介していただいたパン屋さんだったりお風呂屋さんだったりたこ焼きやさんあぶり餅中華やさん＜から揚げ美味しい＞みたらし祭りたのしかったです。テレビが無いというのもオーナ夫婦の京都を感じて欲しいという思いが感じられて良かったです。私個人的には階段に上がる床板の段差がとても好きです。夏の京都を体験したので今度は真冬の京都を自転車に乗って体験してみたいです。これを読んで頂いた方には参考になるか解らないですが、煌びやかな京都も良いですが。カリガネというこの宿？？京都を感じるには最高だと思います。

■到着時、道を間違えてしまって電話させていただいたのですが、すぐにその場所まで来て下さって案内していただきました。 ■オーナー兼スタッフでもあるご夫婦にとても温かく迎えて頂きました。京都町屋の一棟貸しスタイルを利用するのは初めてだったのですが、丁寧に色々と説明してくださり、不安もなくとてもリラックスした時間を過ごすことができました。 ■オーナー自らが抹茶をたててくださり、お菓子とともにおもてなししていただきました。本格的な抹茶がはじめてだった娘も大満足でした。 ■建物や内装・設備とも「日本、京都の伝統的な住まい」の雰囲気を大切にしつつ、トイレなどは最新設備で利用者のことを第一に考えた内容だったと思います。特にお風呂は秀逸でタイルを使ったモザイク模様で京都の風景を描いています。一見の価値ありです！ ■こちらのお宿にはテレビがありません。それが団らんの時間にはとても良く、家族みんなで楽しく静かな時間を楽しむことができました。
