We stayed in the Japanese style room. Beautiful tatami mats, gave a nice feeling. I wouldn’t recommend staying too long in Japanese style if you aren’t used to it – the futons aren’t as comfortable as a bed and the room and bathrooms are quite small.
I thought that the information available in the lobby of activities in Kyoto and in the hotel itself was brilliant. The breakfast was also really good.
Traditional-style Ryokan with tatami mats to sleep on (and if it is too uncomfortable for you, there is still a sleeping couch as a back up). However, it is a mix of western and japanese style, very good to start the Japan experience with without being overwhelmed. Friendly staff, always helping how to get somewhere or what to eat.
Very friendly and helpful staff. They took personal and issue that we had with a lost item and they looked and found for us. Never forget. Big rooms. Lot of activities and experiences proposed at the ryokan

Wow! We loved everything! From the super friendly staff, who welcomed us like family, to the cleanliness and love to every detail of the room. Would come back every time! + Traditional workshops like Japanese lettering, Origami or tea ceremonies are free to be joined + Yummy breakfast (Japanese breakfast: 800 ¥ per person / continental breakfast: 400 ¥ per person) + Kyoto Bus day tickets sold at the desk (500 ¥ per person)
1. Tatami for sleeping is very comfortable. 2. Bathroom facilities are good for using, although they’re all mini. 3. Smoking area in hostel is offered to guests, it’s convenient.
