Be prepared that local people are not always friendly to the tourist and many times they see them like source of money. Especially if there are any problems and complains. Fortunately I haven't got any big problems, only issue was the canceled flight from the island back, but the airport company Satena took care about us, offering us extra night accomodation.

We were lucky that the island was so empty, although we recognize how that hurts the reality of the locals. There is very little information online about the current state of the island, as they had to rebuild 98% of infrastructure after hurricane Iota dessimated everything. The good news is that recovery is well underway. There are plenty of restaurants and hotels, along with beautiful beaches. I highly recommend a trip to Providencia and I can hardly wait to get back.
It is important to note that when we went there was only one airline company flying to Providencia (Satena) and they leave a lot to wish for. Our plane had no AC and we arrived sweating buckets and feeling quite unwell, so anyone with health problems should think twice about this visit. Also, they cancelled our flight last minute and we were forced to take and earlier flight so that we could make our connection. So I recommend leaving some room between the flight from Providencia and any subsequent connections.
Other than that, the beaches are beautiful. When we went, we generally had most of them to ourselves. I highly recommend snorkeling, as the experience is life-changing. I've snorkled my whole life, but Providencia was on a whole other level.
We ate at one of their more high-end restaurants (Caribbean Place) where the food was good, but over-priced. On the other hand, the food at El Divino Niño at South West Bay Beach was delicious, fresh, relatively cheap for the size and quality of their portions.

Providence Island is absolutely gorgeous and low key.
Providence Island is absolutely gorgeous and low key. It's perfect for snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing and beaching it for relaxation. The best way to get to know the island is by booking a boat tour that takes you to the surrounding islotes. For transportation throughout the island for 3 or more people is renting the boogies. Between SouthWest beach and Manzanilla Beach, I prefer Manzanilla.

This is a great little island for nature lovers.
This is a great little island for nature lovers. The locals are great - all bilingual. Everyone knows everyone. Ms. Portia is warm, welcoming and accommodating. Eusebio gave a great tour to the peak to watch the sunrise. Elijah gave the best massage in the most scenic location. Nick’s 5:30 boat ride to see the sunrise from Crab Cay, watch man-o-war birds, and swim at Tres Hermanos was awesome. We loved the walk through Santa Catalina with Elijah. Caribbean Place is the best restaurant. It boasts a live band. Reservation required. Everything is super affordable. I LOVE PROVIDENCIA AND THE GREAT LOCALS THERE!!!

I loved the tranquility of the island and the friendliness of the people on the whole. Not a huge number of good beaches but Manzanillo and especially Southwest Bay are highly recommended. There are plenty of good places to eat: Elma’s and Martin’s in Agua Dulce and Divino Niño at Southwest Bay in particular. It’s worth going round the island in a boat but the snorkeling is not very good. Renting a motorbike is a good way of getting round the island.

It’s a paradise just like in the pictures, but it has very little infra structure for tourism and things are VERY overpriced (even considering island conditions).
You pay a super high price for basically everything, from renting a bicycle, taking a taxi, to hiking to the top of the hill (~15 usd) which is a public space.
We enjoyed the view of the nature, it is breathtaking, thereof we felt like in every single situation we were been charged extra for doing something.
It might be good for those who enjoy scuba diving, we didn’t explore this aspect on the island.
This is a small hotel, recently rebuilt. The waterfront view is spectacular!
Ruth, the proprietor, is a very warm and nice person, and provided us with special service to accommodate our food restrictions.
She also made a special effort to provide us with dinners, which they typically do not offer. She even gave us a special dinner on Christmas Eve.
The rest of the staff was also quite helpful, especially after two of my travel companions fell ill with what turned out to be Covid
The room was spacious and the beds very comfortable.
Providencia is paradise on earth and Jaime is going to make sure that you enjoy it. He moved the whole hostel to a new location on the island because it’s more calm there. It’s called Fresh Water Bay and it lays in the middle of nature and yet you are at the beach in 2 minutes. Everything you need is close by. Jaime helped out where he could. Picked me up at the airport, drove me to my diving school and took me to party during night. Overall, this was one of the coolest experiences during my trip.
Berton Place was the perfect accomodation for us on our week in Providencia!
The flat was well equiped and very clean. The cosy terrace with sea view was amazing.
The host family was always extremely friendly and helpful if we had any questions. They even organised a huge tank of 20l water for our stay so we could refill our water bottle instead of buying new bottles all the time. This saved us quite some time and money.
You can rent scooters right at their place for a very good price.
We could not have felt more welcome by Kildren, Sumaya and their neighbours on our trip to Providencia. The apartment was huge, very clean, had great air con and a gorgeous view from the balcony. Kildren and Sumaya organised snorkels and a scooter for us and were always available to help us in any way they could. Also, their neighbour Idana's cooking is incredible, we had the most beautiful fresh seafood meal courtesy of her! A perfect stay, could not recommend more!
The host wrote to us a day before our arrival, which made us confident on having local information about going from the airport to the hotel. We stayed in 4 other places and all them failed to answer to us before arriving, let alone writing us first. During our stay, they were very kind in giving us tips on what activities to do and contacts of people to call to. Rooms were clean and comfortable, breakfast was good and location too. We recommend it.
Jenny and Jairo provided a wonderful guesthouse to stay in. All of the basics are great - the room is clean and comfortable, the breakfast is delicious, the hammock is relaxing. But more importantly, they were so hospitable and helpful with recommendations and arranging reservations. They know the island so well, and their love for Providencia was infectious. We feel like we truly made friends staying with them.
We had a great stay in Providencia and at Saltwata. Raul, the owner and manager of Saltwata, was the best host we could have. He provided us with all the information and tips that we needed on the island, was always available to assist us during our stay, and helped us to organize all the activities we wanted to do on the island (boat tour with snorkeling and scooter rental). Strongly recommend!
The best choice we could have made. We decided to walk the little distance from the airport enjoying the turquoise coloured waterside. The extraordinary host has treated us like kings. The bed and facilities were incredible, especially we've liked the ocean view from the outside porch. It was the most affordable and also the best of the three places we have experienced at Providencia.
great stay on providencia! Lindon is an amazing host. the space is super comfortable with great pool to cool off in! location is prefect between the airport and main town. you can walk to restaurants and scuba diving in 15 mins. it is not on the beach but you can easily drive to beach close by. we rented a scooter! we will definitely come back!! wish we could have stayed longer.
The hotel was constructed recently, and is 10' walking from a very nice little beach (Almond Bay). Rooms are spacious and very clean. Bed sleeps well. The staff is superb. The hotel rents scooters at 16 USD per say (which you really need, because except for the beach nearby, there is nothing else ongoing right there. It is a good hotel if you travel on a tight budget
Providecials are second to none! You are at home in the island and absolutely safe. The mountain peak, most of the beaches, the neighbouring coral and islands are what makes Providencia unique nature wise. And the Posada is by far the best! Thank you Indra, Pati, Karen, Juan and the rest of those whose names I can't recall. We had a blast 😁
Providencia is a fantastic island with tranquil beaches and the most friendly people. I did some fantastic dives there. The room was spacious and completely new with a wonderful view of the sea.
My host was extremely helpful in organizing things on the island.
You need a mula or moto to get around the island to beaches and restaurants.
This is an amazing find! Saul was so helpful and set up a hiking tour and snorkeling tour for us. He also walked us to some nearby restaurants and gave a tour when we first arrived. The rooms were clean, spacious, and great for relaxing after exploring Providencia all day. If you want an authentic, high quality experience, stay here!
+ extremely friendly and helpful staff
+ super nice location close (10min walking distance) to South West Bay
+ daily alternating breakfast
+ spacious rooms
+ possibility to rent a scooter directly at the hotel
+ the host arranged a private boat tour for us (which was absolutely worth it and amazing!!)
Since the devastation of the hurricane in 2020 most places has to be rebuilt and Jasmine is one. They did a reasonable job but if you prefer the older character hotels most were destroyed and rebuilding is with new materials like aluminum, plastic and new tiles. all comfortable and clean.
We loved Providencia and were very happy to have rented this top appartement. Stunning views, great place to stay, super clean and all you need is there, for those who like to cook, the kitchen is very well equiped. The host Martha is very nice and helps you out with anything you need!
A paceful and beatiful place to chill, 2 blocks away from the main supermarket where you can find almost everything, and 15 - 20 minutes walking to the most gorgeous beach in Providencia, the host was always helpful.
Wonderful stay on Providencia, the rooms are brand new & very comfortable and spacious. Jairo and Jenny were very helpful and gave us lots of information about the island, transport, restaurants etc. 100% recommend.
The hotel is good. It has what we needed - cleanliness, basic comfort, good wifi, nice staff. The location is fantastic, only a short walk to the marvelous southwest bay beach.
