A very progressive city with potential for businesses.
A very progressive city with potential for businesses. Nice shopping centers and restaurants. Just the right size to get around in. An excellent animal safari park and worth going to. It has a moderate climate as it is coffee-growing country in the hills surrounding the city.

Pereira is a great city to use as a hub if renting a car.
Pereira is a great city to use as a hub if renting a car. The exchange rate allows one to stay at the 5 star hotels located in the heart of the city, on the main street next to all shops, malls and main plaza.
Pereira has a functional airport on its outskirts and is also a quick drive to Salento, Filandia, Valle del Cocora or any of the natural hot springs.
Dont get too overwhelmed by the first impression and the streets are always busy.

I love Pereira.
I love Pereira. However, I am biased because my husband is from there. Pereira is a nice city with lots of restaurants, bars and clubs. There are several malls, a couple of which are very nice. The people are super friendly, as all most Colombians. There are lots of taxis. I am very white, lol, and I have never been overcharged by anyone when I was not with my husband or Colombian friends. Some of our favorite restaurants are Zelva and Bianco. Try La Lucerna for breakfast, they open at 9:00am. For a super unique evening dining experience, visit El Columpia Parrilla in Dosquebradas. You will not regret it.

Pererira is a center city in the "eje cafetero" (coffee region) and you can reach many touristic places from there. You can find nice places, we ate at Rodizio in Mall San PAblo and it was great.
Avoid to travel in "peak" dates because some places are too crowded.

SAFE place--don't believe the media reports. Exceptionally safe as long as you go to the main squares and dont stay out past midnight etc.

People very nice and friendly.
People very nice and friendly. Beautiful Christmas decorations everywhere. Everything is walkable to shopping malls, parks, sight seeing. Hotel was perfect classy. Coffee, ice cream and food downstairs. Reception knew how to direct you to anywhere you wanted to go whether walking, or taxi.
The Hotel Sonesta Pereira is a lovely hotel with beautiful facilities. The grounds are very well kept and manicured, the pool is excellent, and it has a very nice gym. The rooms are large and comfortable, even though the furniture is a bit warn. The water in the bathroom was hot and plentiful, but unfortunately the Wi-Fi in the room was hit or miss. You got much better reception in the lobby.
Overall, Sonesta was good for one night. The view in the morning is beautiful. I appreciate the early check-in & the front desk was courteous.
Location: Depending on what you're looking for, it can be a pro or a con.
It's located outside the city center & there aren't many places you can walk to from here though if you rent a car that won't be an issue as you can navigate easily on your own.
The room was clean, had spectacular views, working AC to keep cool, and a lit up jacuzzi to watch the sunset behind the canopy. The unit was conveniently located next to an upscale grocery store and near the airport. I highly recommend anyone visiting pereira to stay here. Javier and Alejandro were great hosts. To say they were hospitable would be an understatement.
Breakfast was great and I loved the roof top patio. Air conditioner in room worked well and bed was comfortable. The facility was clean and fairly quiet.
Neighborhood downhill from hotel was a little rough with lots of traffic but uphill from hotel was very nice and better to walk in. Hotel was close to walk to the center and parks.
This place is all about the location. It’s very close to the bus terminal, which makes it easy to catch an early morning bus for example. It is very safe to walk from the hotel to the station. Generally this neighborhood felt safe and the grill place around the corner was cheap and delicious!
Very decent for the price. Read some negative comments on the area at night, but went out at night to the convenience store 2 blocks down and it did not feel like a dangerous area at all. Breakfast was ok, though nothing special. Decent place if you need a cheap place to stay in Pereira.
As the usual in Colômbia, the staff were outstanding. Willing to help and to solve problems. We arrived very early in the morning and the found a way to let us to the check-in ( paying half of a day rate). They were very organised and friendly too
I can't write anything about this hotel because as soon as we arrived with the reservation made months before, we were told that they didn't have a room available so I had to book another hotel at the last minute.
The bookings total price was not the price that the hotel charged us. The hotel charged us an additional 90mil or 20 USD on top of the booking.com quote.
This is wrong and not transparent.
The staff were extremely helpful and polite. The hotel was beautiful and very safe. Breakfast was very good with staff serving the buffet breakfast. Not unlimited "all you can eat".
The room was very clean, had a small patio and it was a good size. Normal colombian breakfast served.
The staff were really friendly!
The location was perfect to access Pereria.
Ismael was super nice when I arrived. the hotel was spotless, room quiet and good size in a great location. coffee and water always available and really good little candies.
There's easy access to the hotel. Facilities are large. Attendance by all personal was great.
Air conditioning with enough power.
Very well-equipped room.
