Great place for hiking up mountains, wonderful nature to see. Gergeti monastery was an easy climb of about an hour. The village was small, dusty and quiet, not so much to do in November and not so many tourists. Simple and beautiful place with fresh air and silence.

We went to Kazbegi to see the Gergeti Trinity Church and Mount Kazbek, and were extremely fortunate with the weather - in November.
During our visit to Gergeti Trinity Church, the sun was shining at 15 Celsius in the air and just wispy clouds were in the sky. The next day snow fell on the slopes, and the temperature hit freezing point.
The drive ut from Tbilisi is something to be mindful of if you are easily stressed or inexperienced. We drove ourselves, and I am an experienced driver who has been driving all around the world.
You should set aside 3+ hours for the drive - and be prepared for a large number of semi-trailers heading in both directions. Be prepared to pass them when the situation allows. And be prepared for them to pass each other when the situation doesn't.
When you arrive in Stepantsminda, the town in Kazbegi where we stayed, you are at the mercy of the weather when it comes to what you can see and do. If the mist shows up, the view is gone.
On the road down, use the engine brake on your car - or else you might fry the regular brakes.

The scenery is breathtaking.
The scenery is breathtaking. The visitor centre on the main street is useful and friendly. You can drive up to the Church , iconic photographic opportunity.
We visited in September, not very touristy at this time.
Its a relatively small place with a couple of shops.
The drive up and backon the Georgian Military highway is not an easy journey, lots of lorries , you quickly learn to overtake them on bends.

Stepantsminda is a picturesque town with the Caucasus...
Stepantsminda is a picturesque town with the Caucasus mountains for a backdrop. The ride from Tbilisi to Stepantsminda along the Georgian Military Road, was enjoyable, particularly the sights en route. The Gergeti Trinity Church was interesting and it would have been spectacular had Mt Kazbegi not been shrouded in clouds on the day of my visit. However, the skies cleared during sunrise the next morning and I had awesome views of Mt Kazbegi from my room. Dinner was at Cozy Corner Restaurant. The food was good and I liked it that the walls inside the restaurant were adorned with money from all parts of the world, courtesy of visitors who have eaten at Cozy Corner Restaurant. I would have loved to stay an extra day or two in Stepantsminda but time did not permit.
Lovely hotel that is located in a quiet, serene place, further away from the rush of overcrowded touristic Stepantsminda, but not too far.
We really enjoyed our stay, room was spacious with an exit to a huge terrace, where we lucky to watch the peaks of Kazbegi.
Staff was friendly and accommodating, big shout for young team at the restaurant. They were super sweet and entertained our baby, while we were eating.
Good quality breakfast with variety of choices, very yummy omelette and cheese patties.
Darchi is a newly built hotel on the south side of Stepansminda. We had one of the large rooms with mountain view towards the southern slopes of Mt Kuro (not Mt.Kazbegi if that matters to you). The room was clean and light and had basic amenities like a water cooker. Breakfast was served to the table in a spacious restaurant downstairs and had decent variability (we stayed there for a whole week!) The staff try their best with English although you'd be better off speaking Georgian or Russian.
It is a great location, fully isolated, view is stunning. House is excellent and accurate, everything needed was there - good bed (there are 2 double) good kitchen, bathroom and music speaker. Good terrace and grill.
I visited Kazbegi area several times and I can say the morning view is one of the best even compared to famous alternative hotels this place might be a good option for those who wanna make everything by themselves and feel fully isolated. The owner is great and easy to communicate
So we stayed here for 1night, (we thought it would be enough) room was very cozy and warm. beautiful view of the kazbek. Trust me, I am a very picky eater, restaurant really nailed it with the food, I mean come on, how can a grilled chicken be this delicious 😍😄… Also just want to say, very surprised at the costs of kazbegi, very cheap compared to gudauri…
staff did their best to comfort us during the stay.
In conclusion 10/10
thank you!
The most beautiful views of the mountains in Kazbegi can be seen from Hotel Axien. The hotel has both modern and wooden rooms, clean and comfortable. Around there are many necessary shops such as pharmacy, banks, cafes. They can also help you with comfortable transportation in any direction. The staff are very friendly and care about the guests' satisfaction. Thanks to each of them. My recommendation for this new hotel.
The hotel staff was very welcoming, especially ‘Ketvaani’ who was extremely kind, helpful, accommodating. The restaurant manager was also very pleasant and customized what we wanted from the menu. The breakfast was exceptionally great! The furnishings are top notch. Loved the game room on the rooftop. Overall. it was a brilliant stay at Hotel Memoir. Will recommend to everyone 10/10 !!
Keti and Gia is super duper amazing. Aside from their beautiful, clean and the scenic view from the terraces of the rooms, the location is spectacular! It is near restaurants and other hotels as well. Keti can speak very good English and she is always there to assist you willingly in almost everything! Definitely will recommend this place and will come back if I return in Kazbegi. ❤️
We stayed at Hotel Horizon for three nights. Staff was SUPER friendly and supportive to all our requests. Beautiful building with great views of the mountains surrounding Kazbegi, and they probably offered the biggest breakfast I’ve ever seen! Will definitely stay here again if given the opportunity to return to the area :)
Very nice location, the view is stunning! Located on the north of the town, about 15min walk to the market. 3min walk to Rooms hotel(where u can get lunch&dinner). The host was very friendly, we communicated with the translator (Georgian and English), she was always willing to help!
The location it’s right in the center of kazbegi. You have few restaurants around (all walking distance), supermarket and pharmacy across the hotel. With a beautiful Mountain View from my room.
The staff are really nice, friendly and helpful.
The room is clean, comfortable bed.
Our hostess went above and beyond to make our stay a welcome one. She gave us a free upgrade of room, cooked the best home-cooked meals and even personally dropped us of a few villages over. Real Georgian hospitaly. Hotel also offers great views on mt Kazbek and gergeti church.
We enjoyed staying in Hotel Gold Kazbegi. Very clean and cosy rooms with mountain view. Big breakfast with various food. People working in the hotel were probably one of the nicest Georgian people we have ever met. Would definitely stay there again. Highly recommend!!!
Hosts at Come & Rest are amazing, very welcoming and hospitable people. They gave us all the comfort for two days, as well as guidance for the best local food restaurant (which really was an exceptional restaurant), and even drove us to Juta hiking trail from Kazbegi.
Rooms Hotel Kazbegi undoubtedly has THE BEST view of Mount Kazbek. Incredibly romantic and magnificent. Heating was ideal to ensure we enjoy the view from the comfort of our cozy beds. Hotel was clean all around.
A very new hotel located in the best place possible with a spectacular view of Kazbegi mountain. The staff are really friendly and helpful, a very nice restaurant with exceptional breakfasts. Highly recommended.
Hotel is actually located in Kazbegi village , far away from the hustle and bustle , if you are looking for a hotel to be secluded from people this is the one ,, the view of the mountains is actually amazing
Best experience in Kazbegi - the staff was so kind, the bed was like sleeping on a cloud, everything was spotless, and the breakfast was delicious. I highly recommend this hotel!!
Perfect place for 2-days weekend. Amazing views from room’s windows on Kazbegi. Super nice breakfast and restaurant’s serving. Very stylish and worthy hotel.
