Brief reviews in English (and other languages)
The building is nicely arranged, imitating old siheyuan structures of Beijing, and the fishpond in the middle courtyard adds a lot to the atmosphere. The place is located next to one of the most colourful areas of Beijing, the Houhai and Qianhai lakes, with Prince Gong mansion and Song Qingling’s residence only half an hour walk from the hotel and various bars and tourist attractions close by.
This is a wonderful place to stay – the rooms and courtyard are beautifully decorated, it feels very authentic and quirky. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and speak good English. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Walking around the surrounding hutongs was my favourite part of staying in Beijing, watching people going about their everyday lives. We made full use of the services available: taxi pick-up, Great Wall tour, Kung Fu tickets, laundry and breakfast, which made our stay very convenient.
The only place I’ll be returning to when I’m in Beijing! Beautiful location. Good atmosphere.
I liked the central location and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Excellent value for money. Great location. Only 10mins walk from the subway. Some excellent restaurants within walking distance. Great sitting area where you can meet other travellers. The organised trip to Mutianyu and the Great Wall was very enjoyable.
The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful at all times. It didn’t matter what kind of question we had, they were willing to answer it with a smile on their faces. Additionally, the overall feel of the Red Lantern House was amazing. We felt like we were fully immersed in the culture. Not to mention the proximity to the railway station which made it very easy to get to!
Attractive hostel with a great common area (it’s beautiful!). Staff are helpful and the facilities on offer are good. Location is interesting, on a main hutong street, near shops and the metro (so it’s easy to get to and easy to find!).
Nice hostel, friendly people and the possibility to wash your clothes for free!
The rooms at the gallery are with afternoon sun and have more privacy than downstairs, nice inner courtyard, good working wifi, shared bathrooms were clean, really nice neighborhood in the hutongs with a lot of good small street food, close to the three lakes and 15-20min to the next metro station, english speaking stuff organises a lot of entry/train/flight/…-tickets for money, laundry possible, no kitchen for travellers but hot water and fridge-storage available
The facilities, hygiene and quietness of the hostel were quite good considering the overall standards in Beijing. It looked very cute and traditional. Since people don’t really speak English in Beijing, it was quite remarkable that two of the people working there understood and spoke basic (hostel) English.
Friendly and very helpfull staff. Location very good (metro, trains, supermarkets, restaurants close to hotel). Room was very good, cozy with nice views). Highly recommendable!
